Stage Aurora presents August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama
THE PIANO LESSON
Stage Aurora Theatrical Company presents the award-winning August Wilson’s THE PIANO LESSON February 28-March 1 & March 6-8 at the Stage Aurora Performance Hall 5188 Norwood Avenue, Jacksonville, FL. THE PIANO LESSON is the fourth play in August Wilson’s “Century Cycle.” The play follows the Charleses, an African-American family living in Pittsburgh in 1936, as they struggle over the sale of a precious family heirloom, literally and figuratively fighting the ghosts of their past.
The New York Times hailed THE PIANO LESSON as “a generous gift,” “emotionally sustaining great theatre,” and a “savory theatrical feast.” Time Out New York described the play as a “grand drama” that “reaches operatic intensity.” And Back Stage called THE PIANO LESSON a “theatrical whirlwind.”
The production is directed by and features CeDarian Crawford as Boy Willie along with Tamia Brinkley as Maretha, Joiakin Foster as Avery Brown, K. Sidney Bronson as Doaker, Drickus Horne as Wining Boy, Detrick Wilson as Lymon, DeWonna Singleton as Grace, Krystal Stallings and Jaquette Jackie Jantzen as Berniece.
