AMAZING GRACE: A Musical Tribute to Aretha Franklin
‘A Celebration of Aretha Franklin’s 1973 Grammy Award-winning Album for Best Soul Gospel Performance’
Stage Aurora Theatrical Company will present AMAZING GRACE: A Musical Tribute to Aretha Franklin for one performance only March 30, 7:30 PM at 1317 Rowe Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32208. AMAZING GRACE will feature the Gospel songs from her 1973 Award-winning album for Best Soul Gospel Performance.
“Having worked with Aretha Franklin and after observing her televised home-going service, I was incredibly moved to celebrate her Grammy award-winning album AMAZING GRACE that reigned #1 on the Gospel charts for months in Jet Magazine. Today, the album has touched millions upon millions across the globe” said Darryl Reuben Hall, Director and CEO of Stage Aurora Theatrical Company.
AMAZING GRACE will showcase such songs from her 1973 Grammy award-winning Amazing Grace album as Mary, Don’t You Weep, Amazing Grace, Old Landmark, Precious Lord, among others. The production scheduled participates are Karen Armstrong, Vanstoria Branch, Sylvia Brown, Bre Canady, Denise Butler, Crystal Capheart, (who traveled several years with the stage play, Daddy Please Don’t Leave), Jann Clark, Mary Green, Jacquelyn Groover, Kathleen Murphy Jackson (who appeared in the Broadway national tour of Smokey Joe’s Café), Joshua Levy, Melanie Murphy, Antoinette Perkins, Cora Scott, Narrator Katherine Surcey, Shelia Velez, Rachel Washington (songwriter), Sabrina Walker (Miss Senior Diva 2017), Shannon Ward, Aliajah Wilcher, Iona Wilcher, Shania Wilcher, Tionna Wilcher, Sinda Williams, Tamiko Williams, Yvonne Williams, Solo dancer Vivian Williams, Esquire, Violinist Essence Wimes, Eutruler Wright, and many more. The production is helmed by Director Darryl Reuben Hall, Vocal Director Kathleen Murphy Jackson, Cast Manager Jann Clark, Organist Gail Jefferson-Henley, Choreographer Sandy Simmons, Volunteer Voncell Wimes, and General Manager Dolores Hall, Ed. D.
Stage Aurora Theatrical Company is Jacksonville’s longest-running producing theatre of the African-American experience.
